The Bracken Bruiser eliminates bracken regrowth and encroachment into farmland, grassland, and woodlands. Tow this British-built Bruiser behind an ATV Quad, a Compact Tractor, and even your 4x4.
Bracken Bruising has been used for centuries to diminish regrowth. It works by crushing the bracken stalks, causing the sap to bleed and the rhizomes to be starved of nutrition. The result is much weaker regrowth, as the plant can't replenish itself by taking nutrients back down the stem.
The best results are achieved up until late July, when the fronds have fully opened and the plant has expended the most energy. Later crushing is still beneficial, as this will prevent the plant from reabsorbing and replenishing additional nutrients for the following season.
Other Bracken Bruisers use cheap L-shaped steel sections for their crushing tines. L-shaped steel tines have two contact points with the bracken stem per tine, halving the force across each point. This reduced force means that the stems will often stay intact, and the bracken will be able to reabsorb nutrients and regrow. The single point of contact from the Sterling Bracken Bruiser's tines deals double the damage of other bruisers.
The ease of towing is the main factor to consider after the effectiveness of the tines:
The Sterling Bruiser has an impressive ten tines across its 50cm diameter roller, which will crush bracken stems 6 to 7 times per metre of travel. The tine density and large roller diameter are perfectly balanced to apply the entire weight of the machine across a single tine (essential to crush the bracken fully) while being numerous enough to roll comfortably with minimal rotational resistance.
Driving your vehicle through exceptionally dense bracken or bracken with hidden rocks/stumps/obstacles is made effortless with the Bruiser's unique ability to offset and protrude to the side of your vehicle.
With the Bruiser offset to one side, you can crush bracken while driving your vehicle over the previously flattened strip - this increases terrain visibility and gives you unmatched versatility in those tough areas.
The offset also allows you to crush bracken close to boundary edges without worrying about your vehicle clipping a fence. It also keeps you further away from being whipped by tree branches - an essential for those using ATVs or tractors with open cabs!
To offset the attachment, loosen the four bolts connecting the drawbar to the roller frame and slide the drawbar over before tightening up the bolts.
The Transport Wheel Kit is a highly-rated extra for those needing to travel long distances to their bracken. The optional kit allows you to reach your bracken faster, it won't leave marks on any fine-turf areas that you pass on your way to the bracken, and manually manoeuvring in and out of storage is now effortless.
The Sterling Bracken Bruiser is the most tried-and-tested in the country and can be used on any terrain. The heavy-duty construction is built to last on the rockiest and roughest ground.
Not only is this Bruiser the longest-manufactured of its type, but the frame is also used by our heavy lawn rollers - For over half a century, the frames have towed fully-ballasted lawn rollers weighing 500kg+ without fail.
The Bracken Bruiser can be used with any vehicle; choose a 50mm Ball Hitch or a Pin Hitch when ordering. If your vehicle can drive over the bracken, this attachment will effectively and effortlessly crush it.
The Sterling Bracken Bruiser comes in two sizes. The SBB152 features a 5ft (152cm) width roller, and the BB122 features a 4ft (122cm) width roller. The two machines are identical in every way other than the working width. The SBB152 is the go-to machine for those with a 4x4, compact tractor, or an agricultural quad bike. The smaller BB122 is an option for those with a low-power quad, narrow gates, or extreme terrain.
The optional Transport Wheel Kit features two agricultural-grade knobbly wheels mounted on the side of the Bruiser. The wheels allow effortless transportation on tracks, paths, and fields.
Once towed on the wheels from storage to your bracken, flip the Bracken Bruiser 180° onto the roller, and the Bruiser will now be ready to crush. The Bracken Bruiser features a swivel hitch, allowing the attachment to be towed on either the wheels or the roller without the need for tools.
The Bracken Bruiser is a substitute for harmful chemical spraying, eliminating indiscriminate damage to other vegetation, insects, livestock, and waterways.
Clear vast areas of bracken with zero chemical costs and keep the local fauna and flora healthy.
The Sterling Bracken Bruiser is built in Britain and has been for over 50 years. Spares are readily available, and maintenance is very minimal. The Bracken Bruiser arrives assembled and ready to use upon delivery to your door.
