Introduction to SCH BMR Moss Rake
The SCH BMR Moss Rake is a specialized attachment designed to remove moss and dead thatch from lawns and to freshen up gravel drives. Here’s your complete guide to assembling and using this effective lawn care tool.
Assembly Instructions for SCH BMR Moss Rake
Preparing for Assembly
Start by undoing the two centre bolts and removing the black plate. You should have 4 nuts and bolts, 11 spring tines, and 2 thumb screws on hand.
Installing the Tines
Begin from the left, placing each tine one at a time into each pair of holes. Ensure that the bend in the tine faces the roller when assembled.
Securing the Assembly
Once all the tines are in place, push the back over the tines. Note that the larger tip of the back plate should be positioned on top.
Insert the four bolts and tighten them to secure the tines firmly.
Preparation for Use of SCH BMR Moss Rake
Setting Up the Tool Carrier
Remove any ballast from the roller/tool carrier.
Place the drawbar on the ground.
Attaching the Rake
Slide the moss rake into the two uprights of the roller/tool carrier as far as it will go.
Insert the two thumb screws into the upright holes and tighten them securely.
Connecting to the Tractor
Position the roller near the tractor and manually pull the tractor back to hitch up the tool.
Operating the Moss Rake
Safe Movement
Operate the tractor at a very low speed to avoid the rake bouncing, which can lead to uneven raking.
Raking Procedure
If dealing with a lawn heavily compacted with moss, it is advisable to make several passes to ensure thorough removal.
For best results, treat the lawn with a moss killer several days before using the rake to loosen the moss and enhance removal efficiency.
Important Points
- Do not reverse the tractor when the moss rake is attached and in use, as this can cause damage to the rake or the surface being treated.
Conclusion
By following these steps for assembly and operation, you can effectively use the SCH BMR Moss Rake to maintain clean, moss-free lawns and refreshed gravel drives.
